How To Make Your Home Cozy For Autumn
Darker nights and cooler weather is upon us, meaning we have more time to stay inside and get cozy. With Autumn officially here, it is only right to get our home ready for the occasion. With simple changes such as adding warm textures, soft lighting and alternating your accessories, can help welcome Autumn into your home.
We have gathered all of our favourite ways to add some snug touches to your home as we prepare for the colder months.
1. Bedding
Changing your summer bedding to something warmer is a quick and easy way to create the snug feeling. Consider adding thick knitted blankets with soft fluffy bedding. Change your duvet to a higher tog to create the perfectly cushioned haven when you sleep. Consider richer and deeper colours that compliment the seasons colour palette, think rust orange, rich browns and deep burgundy.

2. Table Decor
Autumn is the season for embracing and craving home cooked meals, reclaiming the the dining table and transforming dinner time into an event you look forward to. To create the perfect autumnal dinner event, add some candles and get out the tablecloth. Why not add some pumpkins and dried flowers to really add extravagance to the vibe you have created.
3. Set the Mood
Use the darker evenings to your advantage, turn on the warm tone lights and enjoy! There is an added element of coziness when the lamps are all on whilst you settle down for the evening. With nothing better than relaxing on the sofa reading a book, covered in an ultra-soft throw alongside the perfectly cosy lamp. Maybe even get a portable lamp so that you are able to transport the cosy vibes with you around the house.

4. Introduce Seasonal Scents
Seasonal scents are personally my favourite way to introduce and enjoy a season at home! With nothing better than settling down for the dark night with the perfectly scented candle burning. There are the typically favourite scents for this season, such as everything pumpkin spice scented! However, if that is not your cup of tea, scents like figs, pomegranates, musks and leathers are a perfect selection for the cozy season. You can also use oils, diffusers and wax melts to enjoy the seasonal scents at home.
5. Don’t Forget The Kids
Halloween is certainly a favourite for kids, so it would be wrong to not get them involved in the interior changes. Adding small hints in their rooms or nurseries will surely be a big hit, from novelty halloween toys and decor, to cute smiling pumpkins that are sure to make their autumn better. A cute idea is also to switch their books to more seasonal ones as well as having a cozy reading light in their bedroom to make the darker nights more comfortable.
6. Textures
Autumn is certainly the season known for its chunky knits and thick textures. Knitted cushion covers and thick ultra-soft blankets will help make the evenings more restful and comfortable. Waffle knits and fluffy textures really emphasise the element of comfort. Dried flowers are also a brilliant and easy way to add elements of texture throughout your home.

7. Create An Autumn Wreath
DIY Autumn wreaths are becoming increasingly popular amongst the home design crowd. Creating a brilliant way to bring together all of the autumn colours and textures or Autumn into your home. You can hang them on your walls or front door to welcome people inside to your home. Consider shopping at local florists to create the perfect autumnal wreath.
8. Add Pumpkins!
If in doubt of how to create the perfect Autumn aesthetic, just add pumpkins! All of the supermarkets and local farm shops will have pumpkins and squash on the shelves in a variety of shapes and sizes. The mini pumpkins can make especially great decorations for around your home! If you are really wanting to get into the Autumn spirit go pumpkin picking yourself and pick out you favourite ones! It would also be a great activity to do with your family and friends, to get you all into the cozy spirit!
Following seasonal trends can always be fun, but make sure you are making something you love and that suits your needs!
