Stylish bedroom furniture in a cooling sycamore wood is a great addition to an elegant and modern home. Bedroom design created and fitted by our experienced furniture experts at Langley Interiors.

 

The Clients Brief

Our client wanted the new bedroom design to bring essence of calmness and relaxation to the room, whilst not compromising on the storage and comfort. They also required the renovation to bring more living space to the bedroom and create an environment of intimacy. In the client’s house many rooms had the neutral colour palette with small contrasts from elements like ornaments and wallpapers.

The Design

The bedroom is a very personal space and creating furniture for it requires the designer to understand not only the space but also the person living in it. For the bedroom design our senior project manager – Peter Langley, decided to use the beautiful sycamore maple wood in order to contrast it with the well-lit southern facing room. Plenty of natural light coming into the room made it possible to use darker shades without creating a sense of over cluttering.

 

Working with The Room

While creating the bedroom design Peter decided to maintain the ambience of the room introduced by the existing decorative coving. He used an ornamental panel to finish off top of the wardrobe in order to create a sense of continuity. The designer used the room arrangement in order to introduce two sitting benches; one underneath the window alcove incorporating a set of drawers and one at the footer of the bed.

The Furniture

All of our furniture is made with real sycamore wood veneers. To add a modern touch to the bedroom an traditional inlay woodwork technique has been used. The light grey sycamore veneers were matched with the darker sycamore ones around the outside of the doors, creating a stunning frame effect.

The light and dark composition has also been applied to the handles. Their main colour – metallic silver is matched with matt black leather strips, concluding the concept of light playing with the dark. The whole room is brought together by stunning accessories added by the client.
